iphone Wireless Chargers

iphone chargerWhere is the Wireless Charger for an iphone?

Many new cell phones come with wireless chargers built in, unfortunately the iPhone isn’t one of them. No doubt this shortcoming will be rectified by Apple, sometime on the future. Maybe the iPhone 9 model.

In the meantime those of us with older models or even the latest model have to connect or iPhones to a charger using Apple’s priority smart cable.

Is this so bad? Well sort of, yes it is. We charge or phones at least once a day, sometimes more. That action of inserting/removing the charging cable takes its toll. The little connector is prone to wear and tear. And if you’re too rough you can end up disabling the charging connector completely – result, a useless iPhone that won’t charge or an iPhone that charges intermittently.

What to do

But there are alternatives. The best solution is to fit your own wireless charger to the iPhone. once this is done charging is just a matter of placing the phone on top of a charging pad, that’s it. It starts charging straight away.

The great thing about these wireless charger kits is that you don’t have to take you iPhone apart to fit them. You certainly don’t want to open your iPhone as this could cause the phone to fail and would definitely void any warranty you may have.

iphoneThese kits see very simple and consist of a plate, about the size of a credit card and a connector. You can find a good range of these here at wireless charger for iphone

You fit the connector to your phone and fold the plate onto the back of your phone. The plate has an adhesive layer so it sticks to the back of the phone and that’s it. Your ready to go. It takes less than a minute to do.

The great thing is that the phone will still charge if you have your phone in a protective cover. Although it does slow the rate of charge down a little.

The other benefit is that you can share chargers with Android phones as they both use the same wireless technology.

Have a few charge pads around the house and you can charge in more than one one location. After all the charge pads are not that expensive.

Photographers’ Light Tent

Old White Sheet

When taking shots for eBay, I was using an old white bed sheet on the floor in my bedroom. The bedroom was great because it was north west facing so it gets a nice soft lighting effect which is perfect. The problem was that I was out most of the day so did any photography in the evenings and so had to resort to room lighting, which was not so good.

Gentleman's watch photographed using a light tentTo get the shots I needed I had to wait until the weekends so that I could take the photos during the day again.

The bed sheet, I would hang from three side of my bed, using pillows and a kitbag to keep it in place, drape the sheet over the floor, which created a perfect backdrop for the products I was shooting.

This arrangement was good until I started upping my eBay activity then the whole thing became quite cumbersome and I wanted something more permanent and easier to use.

That’s when I stumbled into two things that upped my game completely. We have a spare bedroom in our apartment, which my partner likes to keep as a spare bedroom. But we reached a compromise.

Light Tent

So I got myself a light tent, you can find a good selection here bestsellinglighttent.com

bracelets using a Light Tent

The great thing is I can leave it set up all the time but they’re really quick and easy to take down. I leave the light tent set up on the dressing table but cover it when not in use, to prevent dust settling on it.

Make sure you get the light Tent that comes with two lights, you place these either side of the tent and they shine through the translucent white material giving a soft even light. Very important to get the pro shots that help sell your stuff.

What it means is that I can take the lens cap off of my trusty Sony Alpha 7S, take photos and have everything up on ebay in a matter of minutes. A massive time saver and my pictures are better as well.

The Camera

Camera graphicThe camera you want to get, doesn’t have to be expensive but does need manual controls. I just set mine up once, check the image, making sure the product is dead center. Then set the timer, so I don’t jog the camera web when shooting.

Very important, make sure your camera can share photos wirelessly. Most do, but you don’t want to be downloading images. All that fiddling around wastes time. Also take a photos that look good and you can use straight away. Again, using photoshop just adds time to the whole process and we’ve all get better things to do.

Tripods, a great edition to your Photography

Modern Digital SLRs have amazing capabilities and the technology has taken these cameras to new heights, not seen before if cameras of yesteryear. So does the modern photography need a tripod anymore?

With the high ISO settings now possible you can achieve hand held shots of remarkable quality even in low light situations. Take concert venues, as an example, these are dark environments with fast movement and getting a usable shot required taking hundreds of shots to end up one or two keepers. But today’s modern cameras are more than capable of working at this extreme.

But a good tripod really comes into its own when you want more control. We use these when we have more time and can frame a shot just how we like it and fix the camera into position on top of its tripod.

Tripod Benefits

The tripod allows us to take our time and set things up just so, then all of the elements in the frame can be arranged as required.

You can find the best camera tripods right here http://bestsellingcameratripod.com should you wish to buy one.

Landscapes

Tripods are very popular for landscape photographers. A large robust tripod provides a secure platform when there’s wind and the photographer wants to use a slow shutter speed in his shot. Additionally, a tripod allows you to pan the camera on one plane, so that camera follows a steady arc along a horizontal axis.

Fashion

end always fix the camera into position and have the models pose against a fixed background. Use of a tripod also allows a bigger, heavier camera to be mounted.

Wild life photography normally means high powered telephoto lenses. The bigger the aperture the bigger the lenses. And lenses get bigger really quick as the photographer needs more light or faster shutter speeds. A tripod is therefore a must. These lenses come with a mounting point actually on the lens, that’s how it’s mounted on the tripod. The camera is attached to the lens but because the lens is so much heavier than the camera, the center of gravity is now in the lens portion, that’s we attach the lens to the tripod and not the camera.

There many uses for tripods and this site http://photography.lovetoknow.com/Tips_and_Tricks_for_Using_a_Camera_Tripod goes into a lot more detail

Photography Blog

Welcome

Hi, and Welcome to my new blog. I’d like to introduce myself, my name is Terri Watson and I love photography, period. What I’d like to share with you are various techniques and styles I come across all the time along my photographic journey.

This is not a blog to teach you photography, there’s lots of sights that can do this much better than I ever can. But there are techniques that require a bit of patience to get your head around. As I discover and practice some of these new techniques I’ll share my experiences her, with you. I keep a log as I go and intend highlight all the success and problems I encounter and the things I found out along the way.

Cameras & Technology

A lot of camera, lighting techniques always assume some prior knowledge. This can make things a bit tricky as you try to figure out what you’re being taught and have to Google your way out of trouble. The Internet is great but sometimes there’s just too much information and it’s hard to know which method to follow.

Technology has had a massive impact in photography and that has made the hobby accessible to almost everyone. But the basis of photography hasn’t changed at all. Composition, lighting, contrast are all still there and remain the basis for all photography.

The extra or redefined controls, such as white balance settings within the camera and ISO speed setting. Used to be determined by the film that you put into the camera but now they have become an extra image controls for us.

Here’s a quick overview of the three main controls that you need to know

The Software

If that wasn’t enough computer software gives the photography the ability to tweak the image to his or her liking. But software, used in post production, goes far beyond that. And whole websites are dedicated to just to these tools.

Photoshop Elements, great software to get started with, catch the overview here;

Welcome aboard

This blog assumes no prior knowledge and I hope if you follow me on this journey, I will put knowledge your way that makes sense and allows you to get going quickly and feel that, “at last”, you’re making real progress. And ultimately that’s what we all want, to be better photographers.
